Magesi FC could be declared Motsepe Foundation Championship champions if they get the better of Milford FC in Polokwane on Sunday.

Magesi are one step away from gaining promotion after picking up three valuable points from Platinum City Rovers in Vaal on Wednesday.

The Limpopo-based side now needs at least one win plus a draw to gain automatic promotion to PSL next season.

Magesi currently sit in pole position in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with 52 points after playing 27 games so far this season.

Coach Clinton Larsen is hoping his team will bag a victory against Milford and for University of Pretoria drop points against Black Leopards in Thohoyandou on Sunday to avoid drama and suspense at the end of the season.

“It's not yet over,” Larsen tells KickOff.

“It’s a big game against Milford and the game between Tuks and Black Leopards on Sunday.

"Let's talk after Sunday’s game if we could have achieved our target this season. I am hoping the league is concluded on Sunday to avoid more drama with the last games at the end of the season.

"It will all depend on they (University of Pretoria)  drop points. We want to make sure that we win and draw at least one game so that we can be crowned as champions,” he added.

Meanwhile, Platinum City Rovers have appointed Floyd Mogale as caretaker coach until the end of the season.

Mogale replaces Tlou Segolela, who was relieved of his duties as head coach due to a poor run of results.
