Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulon 'Sputla' Nhlapo has called on the club's hierarchy to add a shot-stopper to their goalkeeping department.

Chippa United's Stanley Nwabili has proven to be a revelation between the sticks at the Chilli Boys this season, keeping seven clean sheets in 13 appearances, and has conceded only 10 goals.

Amakhosi currently have Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma as recognized goalkeepers in their squad, while veteran Itumeleng Khune is suspended for misconduct.

Nhlapo says qualities of the 27-year-old Nigerian reminds him of the legendary Amakhosi goalkeeper Joseph 'Banks' Setlhodi.

"I thought Veli Mothwa from AmaZulu was coming alright but his behaviour on the pitch disappoints me, he likes to fight with the other players," Nhlapo tells KickOff.

"Brandon Petersen is a very good goalkeeper, it's just that he gets too excited and lets in easy goals. He is overconfident. Nwabili from Chippa United should be signed. He is a very good goalkeeper.

"I like the way he concentrates, his mind is always on the game. He shouts as he communicates with his defenders. He reminds me of Banks Setlhodi, he could spot trouble from far away. He was always shouting instructions.

"I like this boy Nwabili very much, he is a Kaizer Chiefs type of goalkeeper. So the Chiefs technical staff shouldn't hesitate to sign him.
"But that said, his arrival shouldn't mean automatic relegation to the bench for Bruce Bvuma. Bvuma should be given enough chance, the more he gets game-time it’s the more he will grow."
