Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could now be set for a shock new job after he was reportedly approached for a return to management.

The Norwegian has not had a managerial job since leaving Old Trafford in November 2021, after a stint as caretaker coach and then head coach.

The former Red Devils star currently holds a position as match analyst at UEFA, to which he was appointed in January 2023.

Despite this, and having previously made it clear he'd love to return to the dugout, Solskjaer has been linked with a number of jobs in recent months, including Bayern Munich earlier this year following their announcement that they will part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

However, it appears unlikely he will join the German giants as they are reportedly close to appointing another former United boss, Ralf Rangnick, instead.

Solskjaer, though, is now said to have been contacted by a national team over a new job.

According to Yahoo Sports, Canada Soccer has approached Solskjaer to take charge of their national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It is claimed the North American nation is sounding out multiple candidates, including former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch.

It is also stated that two former Chelsea coaches, Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard, have rejected the opportunity after they were also approached by the Canadians, with the Portuguese tactician said to have declined an interview while the latter indicated that it was not the right time for him to return to the dugout.
