Real Madrid and Bayern Munich played to an entertaining 2-2 draw in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday night.

Nacho Fernandez and Aurelien Tchouameni were the only survivors from Madrid’s win at Real Sociedad on Friday, while Kim Min-Jae, Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala returned for the Bundesliga giants.

Sane caused the visitors a couple of problems right after seven minutes played when he drilled in a low ball to the area which Harry Kane retrieved to bring a save off Andriy Lunin.

After a quiet spell where limited to no clear openings showed, the LaLiga leaders were ahead post the half-hour mark with a fine bottom-corner finish from Vinicius Junior.

Bayern looked keen to draw level just before halftime and had a long-range free-kick by Kane shaved well beyond target with Lunin pulling across.

The home team refreshed their on-field personnel ahead of the resumption and saw Leon Goretzka removed for Guerreiro to come in.

Matters levelled seven minutes in the second period as Sane came in on the blind-side and launched a cutback to slam in the near post, giving Lunin no chance.

Bayern enjoyed total control and went in front two minutes apart through a composed penalty by Kane after a foul on Musiala by Lucas Vazquez right in the six-yard area.

Los Blancos were under further pressure around the closing quarter and could’ve gone behind once more through a header by Eric Dier following a corner, but Lunin parried this time.

Brazilian wizard Vinicius rescued the visitors six minutes before time with a calm spot-kick after Min-Jae brought down compatriot Rodrygo Goes.

No further goals were added as the final whistle went to leave the tie poised ahead of the return-leg next week in Madrid evenly matched.
