Designing the perfect children's room can be tricky.
You want a space they’ll love but also one that can evolve as they grow. The good news is that creating a place that gives them space to explore, rest, learn and play is easier than you might think.
Children grow so fast and their interests change even faster but you can balance their current love of Pokemon, unicorns and superheroes with a bedroom that's stylish and restful, classy and timeless.
Kids need a fun – but at the same time calming and restful – space to retreat to and this is the way you can give it to them.
Here are top tips for creating the perfect children's room:
1. Think long-term: For little ones under 10, create a small, designated play space where they can have fun with their toys. As they grow up, the play area can be converted into a reading corner or a study area.
2. Bring in their interests: Indulge your child's current passion by bringing in elements that can be swapped as their interests change. A good way to do this is to invest in high-quality picture frames so you can easily change pictures as their hobbies and pastimes grow. Cushions, curtains and duvets can also be changed to suit their activities.

3. A touch of whimsy: Give in to their sense of wonder with various elements. A fun nightlight, lamp or overhead star projector will make for sweet dreams. Sewing pom-poms on the curtains, hanging bunting or pennants and putting a few oversized floor cushions in colourful covers will add to the whimsical ambience.
4. Double up on storage: When there's a big birthday that brings with it an overwhelming influx of new toys, it's easy for clutter to take over. Stay on top of the chaos with plenty of storage space.
Think of lots of wardrobe space, pigeon-holes with doors, toy boxes, storage baskets, toy hammocks and floating shelves. Remember to clear out old, broken or unused toys regularly.
5. In full colour: Children prefer bright, bold, primary colours, which are easier for their developing eyes to see. Go big and use their favourite shades to curate a cohesive colour scheme.
You could also paint a mural on the walls or use wallpaper. This is great for transforming a room – but choose something that will grow with the child, such as floral, abstract murals. Look for options that are water and detergent-resistant and easy to scrub clean.
