THE music and entertainment community bid farewell to DJ Peter "Mashata" Mabuse.
The cherished soul and DJ was laid to rest at Zandfontein Cemetery in Tshwane on Sunday, 28 April.
At 46 years old, Mashata's untimely death has left a void in the hearts of many.
During the emotional funeral service, Tebogo Moagi, Mashata's mum's niece Rebecca Mabuse, shared a heartfelt message from Rebecca to her son, who tragically lost his life in Soshanguve on Sunday, 21 April.
"To my beloved son, thank you for the 46 years you gave me as your mother. Your departure has left me in pain, but I am determined to fulfill the plans we made together. Rest in peace, my son," she conveyed.
His mum also pleaded with Mashata to expose the "jealous" people who killed him.
Valencia Bambo, representing the family, remembered Mashata as a compassionate soul whose music healed many.
Mamelodi Sundowns supporters chairman, Mpho Mothupi, and friend Itumeleng Thlasedi both expressed their deep sorrow and admiration for Mashata's life and legacy.
"He was more than a colleague in the entertainment realm. His influence in my life was profound. His passing leaves a void not only in my heart but to everyone," said Mpho.
Dr Shadrack Ntshangeni from TUT, where Mashata served as a resident advisor, highlighted his positive impact through comedy and music.
Comedian Mashabela Galane and Mashata's manager, Gugulethu Ngubeni, shared their personal losses, emphasising the void left by his passing.
Tshwane deputy mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya and Gauteng MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation Morakane Mosupyoe both honoured Mashata's memory, calling for increased efforts to combat crime and promote community safety.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi also attended the funeral, paying his respects to the beloved entertainer.
