Chiefs defender locked out

Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will start the new Premiership season locked out, with his place at the club no longer secure.

Ditlohokwe captained Botswana on Tuesday as they were hammered 4-0 at home following chaotic travel arrangements after another defeat in Mauritania.

The Zebras only arrived back home in Francistown where the game was being played just hours before kick-off and were walloped as expected.

Upon arriving back in Johannesburg, Ditlhokwe will have further stress.

Chiefs have signed Rushwin Dortley, Bradley Cross, and Miguel as the other options that can play where he plays leaving him down the pecking order.

This has ignited talk of a possible loan move for the 25-year-old who had injury distractions in his first season at Chiefs.

Beyond that he will start the new season serving suspension after picking up his fourth yellow card in the last game of the last season.

He is unavailable for selection for the trip to Bloemfontein where Marumo Gallants will be waiting.

This then gives Dortley the edge to start at left central defence on Saturday.

Dortley played in the two games for Bafana Bafana during the latest international break.

Also suspended is Gavin Hunt, Macbeth Mahlangu (TS Galaxy), and Lindokuhle Mtshali of Sekhukhune United.
