Another major achievement for SA coach in Africa

Simon Ngomane is the latest South African coach to win a major trophy outside the country after clinching the league title in eSwatini with Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Ngomane led Hotspurs into their first league trophy when they beat Sidvwashini United by 5-0 at the Somhlolo Stadium in Mbabane on Sunday. The Shiseleweni-based side will now represent eSwatini during the CAF Champions League next season. This is the second time the eSwatini club has participated in CAF competitions after being booted out of the CAF Confederations Cup by Stellenbosch this season.

Ngomane has since joined Pitso Mosimane and Morena Ramoreboli amongst the list of local coaches who have enjoyed success outside the country after winning major trophies in Egypt and Botswana, respectively.

“The job is done. I am so excited about our achievement, it was not an easy exercise. I have to give honor to these boys for tolerating me. I can be a strict person, I want everything that we do to be done with maximum efficiency and they have learned about that and have continued to try their best. That's all I wanted from them to give us their best effort every time they get to the field of the field,” said Ngomane after lifting the league trophy with Nsingizini Hotspurs on Sunday.

Nsingizini Hotspurs chairman Derick Shiba has yet to confirm if Simon Ngomane will continue as head coach of his club next season. Initially, Ngomane joined the club last year as a Sporting Director before being appointed as a head coach early this year.

“I want to thank the president as well for being the father to these boys, for being a leader of the entire collective to say our loss against (Mbabane), Highlanders was just a hump, let's go through that hump and look forward to the next matches, and those next matches we got maximum points". "I am very excited about the achievement for the team, to be champions is unbelievable," Ngomane added.
