Baroka part ways with goalkeeper Virgil Vries

Bakgaga last week introduced no less than 10 new signings, as they also unveiled their new coach Wedson Nyirenda and technical team to the media in Limpopo.

Prior to their unveiling, the club released five players in the shape of Lewis Macha, Khutso Mohwatseleng, Mzwanele Mahashe, Punch Masenamela and Rethabile Soso.

Vries, a former Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows shot-stopper, joined Baroka on a free transfer from the Team of Choice in July last year, and made 21 appearances under former coach Kgoloko Thobejane before falling out of favour at the end of January.

Following Thobejane’s suspension and subsequent sacking, the 27-year-old Namibia international was kept on the bench by Ayanda Dlamini and made his final club appearance on 28 April in a 2-2 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic.

According to Nyirenda, Baroka have set their sights on further bolstering the squad before the start of the 2018/19 campaign, while the likes of Robin Ngalande's, Rhulani Sidumo's and Lucky Nguzana’s futures are said to be under scrutiny.
