Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Koketso Mmotong believe beleaguered Kaizer Chiefs will need a coach like Sead Ramovic to get back to their glory days again.

While Amakhosi are struggling to make the Top Eight, Ramovic and his TS Galaxy FC team have been holding their own against the likes of Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, and currently look certain to finish in the top four.

In their past two matches, they beat in-form Buccaneers 1-0 and drew 1-1 with league champions Sundowns.

"That TS Galaxy coach knows his story, that guy is good," Mmotong tells KickOff.

"Just look at where he took TS Galaxy. They were a club that played to stay in the Premier Soccer League, but look where they are at the moment. They are doing better than some clubs that have better playing personnel compared to them.

"Today, TS Galaxy is not a team that is easy to play against. Imagine if he were to get a team with a proper budget to coach, he would do wonders," he adds.

Mmotong, also remembered for his stint with Platinum Stars, hails Ramovic and says he can do the job at a bigger club given the opportunity.

"I salute their coach. I just hope one of the top teams, like Kaizer Chiefs, take him on board once he leaves TS Galaxy.

"I think he will save Kaizer Chiefs from their current situation, he's got balls of steel that one, he's a big team coach.

"A team like Kaizer Chiefs need someone with balls and a strong character, someone who can stand his ground."

The Soweto giants are currently in a search for a head coach to replace Molefi Ntseki, with Ramovic, who holds a UEFA Pro License, rumoured to be amongst the short-listed candidates.

What might give Ramovic an advantage over the other suitors is that he already knows the DStv Premiership inside-out, compared to someone who is still going to take about a season familiarizing himself with the names of the Amakhosi players.
