South African midfielder Mpho Mathekgane is set to make a return to Zambia after a short stint with TS Galaxy.

Mathekgane is currently a free agent after parting ways with TS Galaxy where he made only two appearances in the DStv premiership and Nedbank Cup since joining the club last season.

The 29-year-old midfielder played for Forest Rangers in Zambia before returning to South Africa in January last year.

According to a source close to Mathekgane, the player is set to sign with Zesco United before the end of this week.

"Mathekgane is now a free agent. He left for Zambia last week and is set to join Zesco United," said the source.

"He has already started to train with the team and is expected to sign with the club before the end of this week," he added.

Mpho Mathekgane's manager Rex Chanda has confirmed that their negotiations with Zesco United over the services of his client are now at an advanced stage.

 "It's true that Mpho is here in Zambia. We are still talking. There is a high possibility that he will sign with Zesco United this season. I am confident that by the end of this week, the deal will go through". "He is excited to be back in Zambia and wants to enjoy his football again," Chanda tells KickOff.
