Nurkovic’s next move…

Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic will hold his clearance with plenty options to consider on his phone about his next move after cutting ties with TS Galaxy.

His stay at Galaxy was very good when measured against standards of the domestic game after scoring 10 goals.

Nurkovic joined the Rockets with the season already in motion last year in September as replacement for Ivorian striker Djakaridja Traore, who left for Turkish club Istanbulspor.

By the time he joined Galaxy, he had not played football for 16 months after his Kaizer Chiefs exit and the issues at Royal AM, against whom he has a multi-million-rand worth case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

That long lay-off also came after a difficult last season at Naturena but didn't dilute his effectiveness upon returning to action, ending as joint-top scorer for Galaxy.

Now with the Galaxy chapter closed, the 32-year-old has yet another career move to consider.

Goals and power is what Nurkovic provides up front when not disturbed by injury and with the evidence of all that there for all to see, it is no surprise that there are widening options to consider.

Where he is best-suited locally is what he will need to decide in consultation with his handlers.

Contact has been made with interested parties in the Betway Premiership keen on a number nine addition to provide goals.

Beyond the contact, there must be written offers on the table, negotiations on the conditions and financial numbers, and subsequent agreements between player and club, which can happen any day from now.

The plus for Nurkovic is that he will not be affected by the close of the transfer window as he is a free agent, who can sign for his new club beyond September 20.

Of interest is the fact that his former club – Kaizer Chiefs – has had no one giving them better numbers than the 14 goals he scored in his first season (2019/20).
