FA Cup wrap: Tottenham edge Middlesbrough to advance to fourth round

Tottenham Hotspur set up a FA Cup fourth round date with Southampton after seeing off Middlesbrough 2-1 in their third-round replay.

Two minutes was all it took for Spurs to go ahead through Giovanni Lo Celso. Erik Lamela netted their second on 15 minutes for a two-goal lead at the break.

Boro set up a nervy end to the match after George Saville found the back of the net, but it was a case of too little too late.

Newcastle United condemned Rochdale to a heavy 4-1 defeat to book their fourth round ticket at St James Park.

An own-goal from Eoghan O'Connell gave Newcastle an early lead while Matthew Longstaff and Miguel Almiron ensured a three-goal lead at halftime.

Joelinton netted a fourth late in the match before the visitors netted their consolation courtesy of Jordan Williams.

Shrewsbury got out of jail against Bristol City with a last-gasp 1-0 win at the New Meadow Stadium.

With the match seemingly headed for extra-time, Aaron Pierre came up with the goods for his side with the winner in the final minute of the match.

Reading progressed to the fourth round after a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

The visitors grabbed the lead through Lucas Boye before Jordan Obita netted the second late in the game for a safe passage.

Coventry City also advanced to the fourth round following a 3-0 win over Bristol City in their third round replay at home.

The goals came through a double from Maxime Biamou either side of the half while Josh Park added to the triumph in the second half.
