TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has assured supporters that striker Bernard Parker's future with the club is not at risk, following a horror injury during Wednesday night's victory against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The veteran striker suffered a severe leg break from a challenge by Sundowns' Bongani Zungu, who was shown a straight red card for the gruesome tackle.

At 37years old, there have been doubts over the possibility of Parker returning to action, however Sukazi insists that the club will continue to accommodate former Bafana striker whether he returns to action or decides to retire.

"The medical opinion is that they see a good prospect of success. In other words, Bernard has a chance to recover," Sukazi said on Metro FM's SNAWA.

"It will take longer because of his age and of course there are case studies. You would remember Dillon Sheppard went through the same thing.

"So, for Bernard again, the medical team is quite confident that he will recover just that he might take longer.

"From our point of view as a club, all we need from him now is a speedy recovery. That's what matters to us and nothing else matters.

"When I had the opportunity to attend the launch of his book, I made a commitment to him, to his family and everyone in attendance that as long as TS Galaxy is around, Bernard Parker's future in football is ensured.

"So that's why I'm saying all I want to see is him recovering fully. I will be pleased by that. What happens after, whether he decided to hang up his boots or still play, it will be his decision.

"Otherwise, his future in football will be secure at our club."

TS Galaxy take on Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership on Sunday, 29 October.
