Lopez joined the Romans at the beginning of the season after being highly recommended to the club and having a decorated coaching qualification.
The Italian mentor holds a UEFA Pro License, but despite his highest coaching qualifications, failed to steer the Tshwane-based outfit away from the relegation zone.
Maleka started to work with Callies on Tuesday, and his team is set to meet with TUT FC in a friendly match in Tshwane on Wednesday evening.
“The club has fired the Italian coach together with his physical trainer,” revealed a source.
“Mpho Maleka is now the head coach. He is expected to sit on the bench when the team travels to Cape Town next week to play against Cape Town Spurs.

“The club has also brought in a new strength and conditioning coach to work with Maleka.”
Callies currently occupy 13th place on the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with 27 points after 24 matches played, making their next clash against 14th-positioned Spurs on Tuesday a six-pointer.
