Riveiro 'clashes' with Ahly sporting director

Newly appointed Al Ahly head coach Jose Riveiro has reportedly clashed with the club’s sporting director, Mohamed Youssef, just days after overseeing his first training session.

The 49-year-old Spaniard made a sensational move from Betway Premiership giants Orlando Pirates to the Egyptian Premier League powerhouse.

Riveiro enjoyed a successful tenure with the Buccaneers, securing five trophies, namely, three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cup titles, which cemented his reputation as a respected and capable tactician.

The Vigo-born manager was officially unveiled as Al Ahly’s new head coach on Thursday last week after signing a two-year deal with an option for an additional year.

However, tension have reportedly surfaced within the club. According to Elwatannews, tension developed between Riveiro and Youssef after the latter allegedly discussed technical matters directly with players without the coach's knowledge.

The report further claims that Riveiro has requested Youssef refrain from attending technical meetings and emphasized the importance of maintaining clear lines of communication, particularly when it comes to tactical instructions for the players.
