Siyabonga Ngezana has come within one game of lifting the league title in his first season in Europe.

The sound of silverware is now within audible distance for Siyabonga Ngezana in his first season playing for Romanian giants FCSB (formerly Steaua Bucuresti).

Ngezana was in action on Wednesday night as his club drew 2-2 against former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Pavol Safranko’s Sepsi OSK.

FSCB twice took the lead, only to then surrender it on both occasions.

It was the second consecutive draw in the Championship Play-Offs for FCSB after another stalemate last Sunday against Rapid Bucuresti.

As has been the case for most of the season, Ngezana put in a solid shift at the back, playing 90 minutes in his 30th appearance of the season.

The point earned took FCSB to 46 for the season.

Ngezana’s club now needs just three points from the remaining four games to lift their first title since 2015.

The champagne bottles could be popped on Saturday if the 1986 European champions win at home against FCV Farul Constanta on the back of Universitatea Craiova failing to take all points on Thursday at home to CFR Cluj.

Ngezana is in line for his first career silverware and will do so on the back of what will rank amongst his best seasons to date.

The 26-year-old never won any silverware throughout the seven years that he spent in the first team at Kaizer Chiefs.

With the title in Romania, Ngezana will play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
