Former DStv Prem defender passes away in car accident

Former DStv Premiership footballer Lesenya Ramoraka who featured as recently as 2020 in South Africa's top-flight has passed away following a motor vehicle accident in Botswana.

According to Botswana newspaper Mmegi, Ramoraka was traveling back to Orapa from his home village, Chabide when the incident occurred on Tuesday morning as a result of a reported tyre burst.

He was 28-years-old.

Ramoraka's most recent stint with a top-flight club was with TS Galaxy who he left at the beginning of 2021 due to injury issues.

He had joined Galaxy from Highlands Park where he spent two years after signing from Orapa United, the same Botswana club that he had been with at the time of his death.

In the 2019/20 season, he played 12 games for Highlands with his last appearance coming against Chippa United in August 2020.

Ramoraka had been the regular left-back for The Lions of the North through the 2018/19 season with 23 appearances under Owen da Gama.

He was also capped for the Botswana senior national team.
