TS Galaxy striker Samir Nurkovic has set himself up as the most efficient scorer in the DStv Premiership of all players in the reckoning for the Golden Boot this season.

Nurkovic has scored seven league goals in 13 appearances, giving him a scoring rate of a goal in every 1,86 games that he plays.

More important is his minutes-to-goals productivity rate.

The Serbian's seven goals have come from 593 minutes.

This means he scores a goal in every 85 minutes that he plays.

All this coming from a man who endured 17 months of not playing football between his last appearance at Kaizer Chiefs and his first at TS Galaxy.

The 31-year-old left Chiefs in June 2022 after the club chose not to exercise the option on his contract.

Meanwhile, compared to those with seven goals or more, the Serbian is top of the list.

The league's leading scorer Lucas Ribeiro Costa has scored his 10 goals from 13 appearances spread over 1007 minutes.

This gives him a goal every 101 minutes that he plays.

Khanyiso Mayo's 9 league goals have been scored from 1566 DStv Premiership minutes, ironing out an average of 174 minutes per goal.

This is the same ratio as Bradley Grobler after smashing eight goals in 1388 minutes in the league.

Iqraam Rayners's average is a goal every 199 minutes, having weighed in with eight goals in 1588 minutes.

Tshegofatso Mabasa is on a goal every 207 minutes after 1446 minutes delivered seven goals.

Of note is the fact that Linda Mntambo has scored a goal in every 84 minutes at Sekhukhune United since returning from injury.

Mntambo plays from midfield and while he has been scoring, he is unlikely to be in competition for the league's top scorer award.

Nurkovic has also scored two goals in the two cup competitions that he has featured in – the Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup.
