Ramovic: Can I say no to Chiefs, Pirates or Sundowns?

TS Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic has discussed the possibility of the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns coming for his players again.

The Rockets have continued to impress under Ramovic this season despite losing the core of the team from the previous campaign, after reaching the Carling Knockout final and narrowly lost on penalties to Stellenbosch.

The Mpumalanga-based side lost most of their key players to bigger clubs, as goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi was signed by the Buccaneers, Given Msimango joined Chiefs, Bathusi Aubaas was signed by Sundowns and Tshegofatso Nyama joined Cape Town City.

Galaxy maintained their form in all competitions after booking their spot in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 after edging Golden Arrows 2-1 this past weekend.

Ramovic says he's aware that the big teams will come calling for his players again but he can't stand in the players' way, speaking to journalists post-match at Mpumalanga Stadium.

"I'm a coach, I have to think in the present. I'll be the most happy guy if we again lose players to good teams, why? It's not about me, it's about the players," Ramovic said to reporters after the game.

"And if they deserve, they play well and they get the chance to maybe play for Chiefs, play for Orlando, play for Sundowns, can I as a coach say, 'No you can't go there'? We have to be realistic.

"But if they go I'll be the most happy guy for them, for me of course it will be sad because I lose a great player but at the end I'm also a human being, I have to be happy because their success is also my success," he said.

Under the German-born tactician, the Rockets also sold Ivorian striker Djakaridja Traore to Turkish Super Lig side Istanbulspor and Aphelele Teto to Scottish outfit Livingston at the end of the 2022/23 season.

"If they can go abroad, to Germany, England or somewhere, it will just be amazing, it talks to our job, what we do," he added.
