TS Galaxy have been accused of taking out their frustrations on referees to the extreme after allegedly punching the car tires of officials after their defeat against Stellenbosch FC.

Galaxy lost 2-1 to Stellies on Sunday, in a game that was surrounded by controversy over refereeing decisions.

The Rockets were particularly enraged after they were awarded a penalty for a foul by goalkeeper Sage Stephens at 2-1 down, but the assistant referee signaled for offside and the decision was reversed.

There were tensions on the sidelines and, after the game, Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic slammed the standard of officiating.

"I actually don't want to talk much about the game because it's a disgrace, it's embarrassing. Not just him, also the fourth official. He made a big mistake when we played against SuperSport, a penalty after three minutes, he doesn't do anything and we lost three points," Ramovic said on SuperSport TV.

"The game against Sundowns, SuperSport, again he was the ref, he's still there and it's a disgrace and then I hear in the media that the chief of the refs, the head guy, says he's very happy about the performance of referees and we don't have proof. Something like this, he should also be ashamed." 

After the match, Galaxy Chairman Tim Sukazi was seen confronting and remonstrating towards the match officials on the pitch.

Now, former referee Victor Hlungwani alleged that the Rockets took their frustrations further by punching the car tyres of the match officials.

"I understand the frustrations, but to go to the extent of punching referees' cars (tyres)? The home team is responsible for the security of referees, so the home team is responsible in that regard," Hlungwani said on Metro FM Sports.

Hlungwane also questioned the presence of Sukazi on the field.

"If you check the NSL rules, article 12, it says only five officials and two may be in the vicinity of the field of play, others must go out. What does Tim want in the ground because the law says: 'No other club member official may be within the parameter during the match'?" Hlungwane asked.

"So, Tim must go to where he sits in the VIP, because when he enters the field, he will be influenced by emotions," he added.
