Police make big breakthrough in Salah's home burglary case

Egyptian police have made a big breakthrough in Mohamed Salah's home burglary case.

The Liverpool star's home in Cairo was broken into earlier this month, as the perpetrators took a number of valuables including a medal, a number of football boots, and television receivers.

With the invasion said to have actually taken place on 2 March, the player's agent notified authorities about the incident last Sunday before the thieves were caught on Wednesday.

According to Reuters, police have arrested two men in connection with the crime and siezed items belonging to the 30-year-old from them, including boots, TV equipment, and his 2021 Africa Cup of Nations runners-up medal.

Egypt's Ministry of Interior confirmed that one of the suspects used to be a security guard at the residential complex and was aware that the home was vacant at the time of the incident.

A report by the Associated Press also said that the two men confessed to entering Salah's property by climbing over a rear wall.

The Pharaohs' captain is expected to visit his home next week during the international break, where he will lead his side in a double-header against Malawi in Afcon qualifiers.
