With Rulani Mokwena’s departure from Wydad Athletic Club at the end of the season already confirmed, the South African coach has declared that he will leave on his own terms.
Mokwena’s stint at Wydad will last just one season, as the tactician is set to part ways with the club at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
It has been a turbulent campaign for the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss, with the team’s recent elimination in the round of 16 of the Throne Cup seemingly acting as the catalyst for his impending exit.

This past weekend, Wydad were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Raja Club Athletic, a result that added to the frustration of the home fans.
Wydad now sit third in the Botola Pro 1 standings, four points adrift of a CAF Champions League qualification spot.
Speaking after the match, Mokwena made a bold declaration, insisting he would not leave with his tail between his legs.
"I will not leave Wydad through the back door or through the window. I want to leave through the front door, applauded by Wydad fans.
"I will take risks to win the upcoming matches."
He added: "If drawing with last season’s champions is considered failure, then I don’t really understand what failure means.
"We played against a strong team that won the national league last season.
"I can’t satisfy five million Wydad fans. I am fully responsible for my choices, and the draw is still a positive result."
