Happy Jele cozying up to R550k premium SUV

With growing debate in many circles over the increasing prominence of Chinese cars in the South African market, former Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele has seemingly hinted at where he stands in the discussion. Here's a look!

The Story

Experts and car enthusiasts alike have been discussing the meteoric rise of Chinese vehicles in the South African market, with some pointing to declining sales and the waning reputation of traditional German car brands.

While the conversation is typically reserved for those in the automotive industry or avid car lovers, it seems former South African footballer Jele may be among those who appreciate the appeal of Chinese-made cars.

Recently, Jele posted an image of himself standing next to the striking Jaecoo J7 SUV, a standout model thanks to its modern design, cutting-edge technology, and practical features.

The ride is said to have a starting price of R549,900, according to Jaecoo South Africa's official website.

It appears that Jele is collaborating with the brand, joining other well-known figures such as actor Senzo Radebe as well as model and reality television star Marc Buckner.

In addition to the Jaecoo J7's sleek silhouette and refined interior, the premium SUV reportedly offers several impressive features, including a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, a 14.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and top-of-the-line safety features.

This isn’t the first time Jele—affectionately known as "Majents"—has partnered with a car brand, having previously collaborated with Lexus in Centurion.
