Wydad make 'final Rulani decision'

Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly made an important decision regarding the club's head coach Rulani Mokwena.
Following the Red Castle's elimination from the Moroccan Throne Cup after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Moghreb Tétouan on Saturday, reports surfaced suggesting that Mokwena might be dismissed.
It was reported that Wydad president Hicham Ait Menna and his board members conducted a lengthy meeting with Mokwena to discuss his future with the club amidst a poor run of form.
It is believed that some members of the board of directors of the Botola Pro League giants are pressuring Ait Menna to let go of the South African coach, while the president reportedly appears to still have confidence in him.
However, the latest news from LeSiteInfo indicates that Wydad has chosen not to relieve the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach of his duties. It has been reported that one of the factors influencing this decision is the substantial financial penalty clause stipulated in his contract.
The report has mentioned that the 38-year-old coach will keep his position and could be on the sidelines during the 2025 FIFA Club World Tournament in America, set to take place between June and July this year.
Mokwena joined Wydad at the beginning of the season with his technical team, which includes four South African members, signing three-year contracts. This means that it could be costly for the team if they were to sack the coach and his staff.
With the news that the coach will remain at the club, his future may now depend on qualifying for next season's CAF Champions League. The Red Devils are currently in position three in the log table with only five games remaining.
The task at hand for Mokwena begin this coming Saturday when Wydad face off against Raja AC in the Casablanca Derby at the Stade Mohammed V, a match that could pose further issues for the coach if he does not secure a victory.
