Fabio Capello's Platinum Stars rant revealed

A decade after England played Platinum Stars in a 2010 FIFA World Cup warm-up match, new information has come to light surrounding Fabio Capello's infamous dressing room rant.

England went into the half-time break leading 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Jermain Defoe, but were lucky not to have conceded after Bradley Grobler missed an effort from the penalty spot.

That first-half performance ultimately left a lot to be desired, and former England international James Milner has now revealed how Capello lost his cool with the players in the dressing room during the interval.

"We were all fearing the worst," Milner told The Athletic.

"But then Capello started by saying, calmly, 'Yes, it was a good first half. You did everything I asked you to do.'

"The lads were looking around, thinking, 'OK, that's not what we were expecting, but we'll take this'.

"And then he just exploded, off the scale, yelling, 'No, you f*****g didn't!'

"He smashed his hand down on the table in front of him and absolutely went off. At that point, I had to go out and warm up for the second half, which was probably a relief.

"I was thinking, 'Well, at least we can't do any worse than they did in the first half'."

England went on to win the match 3-0, with Joe Cole and Wayne Rooney both adding their names to the scoresheet in the second half.
