Off the treatment table | Chiefs' key injury updates

Kaizer Chiefs have provided updates on the injuries to several players, including Gaston Sirino, Edmilson Dove and Tebogo Potsane, while one player is returning to the fold immediately.

Amakhosi were handed a slight blow when new signing and creative spark Sirino got injured in their last competitive match, a 2-1 defeat to his former club Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, in news that will see the Khosi Nation breathing a sigh of relief, the club has confirmed that the Uruguayan will only be out of action for a short while.

"Gaston Sirino sustained an abductor muscle injury in the last match and he is improving nicely and we expect him to back in full training within two weeks, the clubs physio Dave Milner told the club's website.

More updates confirmed by the Soweto giants were that of midfielder George Matlou, who has become a forgotten figure due to being out with long-term injury.

"Another player progressing well is George Matlou. He has started running and doing some ball work and we are looking at a November return for him," said the physio.

Tebogo Potsane is another player on the recovery trail after twisting an ankle.

"He (Potsane) went for a scan which showed some ligament damage, so we expect him to be out for around three weeks.

Meanwhile, Edmilson Dove, who had the misfortune of picking up an injury during the club's pre-season tour of Turkey in July, is reported to be "out of the protective boot and is doing some preliminary walking.

"We are confident he will be able to start running in November," said Milner.

On a brighter note, goalkeeper Brandon Petersen has returned to full training after recovering from a finger injury. He will be looking to unseat Fiacre Ntwari from the number one spot in the team, with Bruce Bvuma also pushing hard for a starting berth.

"Brandon had the pins removed from his finger and can start full training immediately," Milner shared.
