Kaizer Chiefs star George Matlou has left many amusingly surprised after he showed up to training with a car straight from the 1970s. Here's a look!
The story
A recent video of Matlou arriving in training at Naturena with a classic Mitsubishi Delica (also called L300 van) has left many amused online. While the van was quite a hit from the 70s to the late 90s, not many were prepared to see an Amakhosi baller rolling around in it.
The ride comprises all the retro features of its heyday, as it has an old-school bull bar, vintage style mirrors, and a long front seat that could fit two or three more passengers.

The Delica debuted in the 1970s and it also has a taxi model, which was one the South African taxi industry's predecessors to the Toyota Siyaya that is often called the Zola Budd (named after the famous South African athlete.)
Some have praised the attacking midfielder, noting his humble nature, while others joked that it was the car he uses for his side hustle. On the back of the fan, there also appears to be what looks like burglar bars or a gate, suggesting that it is indeed a car used for utility services.
What is clear is that the 25-year-old is not caught up with flashy things in life. Given that he has had to deal with career threatening adversity in the past, it is no surprise that the Soweto-born star has kept his feet on the ground despite playing for one of the biggest clubs in the country.
