AmaZulu bounce back to thrash Magesi

AmaZulu got back to winning ways in the Betway Premiership with a 3-0 victory over Magesi FC on Saturday evening.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse were unchanged from the win over Polokwane City, while the host restored Sandile Mthethwa, Nkosikhona Radebe, Abbubaker Mobara, Ethan Brooks and Bongani Zungu following the heavy loss to Sekhukhune United.

Usuthu seemed to have gone ahead earlier on through a looping header by Etiosa Ighodaro following a free-kick, but apparent mix-up saw the match officials disallowed the strike.

Ighodaro did play a role in the opener though when his header from the area midway in the half hit the upright, leaving Radebe to pick up the rebound and guide in the bottom-corner on his debut.

The Carling Knockout champions came close to an immediate reply through Tshepo Kakora wide of the area, but the host held firm.

More chances showed ten minutes before halftime in the way of a stern header by Delano Abrahams from the area, but Richard Ofori palmed for a corner-kick.

Coach Owen Da Gama turned to the bench and installed Kayden Rademeyer in the place of ex-Chippa United midfielder Boikanyo Komane.

However, Dikwena fell further behind minutes into the second half as Tshepang Moremi raced through on goal and rounded Elvis Chipezeze to fire into an empty net.

Usuthu showed a fresh pair of legs not long after, with Moremi sacrificed for Andiswa Sithole before Celimpilo Ngema stepped on for Brooks.

The host extended the lead within the closing ten minutes when Sithole got on the end of a one-touch passing move and finished at the back-post.

Radebe very nearly made it four deep in added time through a close-range attempt following a long ball, but it was cleared off the goal-line as the three goals were enough to seal maximum points, sending Usuthu up to fifth spot.

Confirmed line-ups:

AmaZulu: Ofori, Radebe, Hanamub, Fielies, Mthethwa, Mobara, Zungu, Brooks, Ighodaro, Moremi, Human
