How Ramovic, Raja deadlock affects Galaxy

TS Galaxy find themselves in a tricky coaching situation after Sead Ramovic's move to Raja Casablanca hit a stumbling block while they were in a process of finalizing his replacement.

As previously reported by Kickoff, Ramovic's move to Raja was imminent, with meetings at The Rockets taking place from Wednesday, discussing the way forward and possible candidates to take over.

Galaxy Chairman Tim Sukazi had also subsequently confirmed to SABC Sport that the Serb-German tactician's move to the Green Eagles was a "done deal" and that the 45-year-old coach was expected to fly out to Casablanca on Thursday to put pen to paper.

However, reports emerged on Thursday that deal hit a snag over disagreements around the composition of the coaching staff.

According to reports, Raja presented new terms to Ramovic, mainly, insisting on him working with their own backroom staff while the Galaxy tactician had plans to bring his own people over to Morocco.

And as a result, negotiations over personal terms reportedly broke down, with the former Wolfsburg goalkeeper not willing to compromise to join the team without his chosen coaching staff.

Contacted for an update on the progress of the talks with the Green Eagles, Sukazi was not yet prepared to speak on the matter and instead directed the queries to Ramovic himself.

"You can call Sead directly, he can update about his future, it's better that way," Sukazi told KickOff.

As previously reported by this publication, Galaxy have been holding meetings to solve the issue of the upcoming coach, who was set to replace Ramovic.

Local reports also suggested that a European coach was being lined up to replace the Serb-German tactician.

Word reaching KickOff is that there were various coaches who had already applied for the job, even from Europe, including Scottish coach Simon McMenemy.

McMenemy was reportedly on the verge of joining the Namibian national team as a replacement for Collin Benjamin in December last year but the deal collapsed in the advanced stages.

The Raja head coach position remains vacant after Josef Zinnbauer was confirmed as a new head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al-Wehda.

The Green Eagles are reportedly looking elsewhere for Zinnbauer's successor after not agreeing on terms with Ramovic.

It remains to be seen if a deal could still be struck between the 45-year-old coach and Raja.
