AFCON 2019: Bafana's Lebo Mothiba on being dubbed one of Africa's most promising attackers
Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba has emphasised the recent media expectation placed on him ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations won't affect him in Egypt. Mothiba, 23, looks set to take centre stage for South Africa at his first major tournament after a breakout season in Ligue 1 with Racing Club Strasbourg. The robust attacker who's netted four goals in just six appearances in the senior national team has naturally emerged as one of the players to look out for in the tournament. Having lifted the 2018/19 Coupe de La Ligue in France last season he played down the notion that the glowing praise from local media in Egypt has affected his mental state. "That I'm not going to think about because most of the time when you hear that [media praise] you got big headed going into games or a tournament thinking people are going to know you already," he told KickOff. "I'm just thinking about my game, what I can do, help my country and continue to give 100%." Mothiba scored 12 goals in 39 games across all competitions for RCS since his €4 million (R65m) switch from LOSC Lille in August 2018.
