Mokwena hails Sundowns' fighting spirit in CAF CL triumph

Sundowns advanced to the next stage of the continental competition in impressive fashion by securing top position in the group standings.

Striker Peter Shalulile gave the Brazilians an early lead in the second minute with Tebogo Mokoena and a Thapelo Morena brace sealing a dominant win.

"What helped us win was the players' attitude. We just have a very good group of players and very good group players with a great attitude," Mokwena said post-match.

"We knew we had to deal with Mohamed Quattara's diagonal balls, Ibrahim Mustapha's speed and Faris Abdalla is always a threat in and around the box.

"Abduljeleel Ajagun is also a threat between the lines and he is extremely creative and creates many possibilities for them to score.

"But we were prepared and the players showed great spirit and great tactical discipline, so all the credit goes to our players."

The Brazilians have been joined by CR Belouizdad, ES Tunis, Petro de Luanda and Raja Casablanca in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.
