Defending champions Italy qualify for EURO 2024

Ukraine 0-0 Italy

Reigning champions Italy secured their spot at the 2024 European Championship with a goalless draw against Ukraine in Group C on Monday.

In a do-or-die affair, both nations featured their star men in Mykhailo Mudryk and Oleksandr Zinchenko for the host whilst Nicolo Barella, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Federico Di Marco stood out for the Italians.

Despite an array of guilt-edge chances throughout the first half, no team were able to get the breakthrough and entered halftime score-less.

The very same stimulus from the respective sides in the second stanza followed, though the deadlock remained elusive and the goalless outcome was enough to book the Azzurri's ticket to the finals.

Macedonia 1-1 England

England finished their qualification tenure in Group C in disappointing fashion after playing to a 1-1 draw with Macedonia.

It was a solid line-up from the English, with Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Trent Alexander-Arnold starting as captain Harry Kane was named on the bench.

With the tie poised early on, Macedonia raced in front through Enis Bardhi shortly who finished off a rebound after he had his penalty kick saved by Jordan Pickford.

The Three Lions came back though early in the second half and needed a slice of good fortune to see Jani Atanasov turn the ball into his own net.

Northern Ireland 2-0 Denmark

Denmark's group stage qualification campaign for the continental event next year ended with a 2-0 loss to Northern Ireland in Group H.

The match took a bit of time to get going though the host seized control on all fronts and were in the lead early in the second half courtesy of Isaac Price.

Denmark were pierced through again in the latter exchanges, as Dion Charles extended the Northern Ireland's advantage with a smartly taken finish.

Czech Republic 3-0 Moldova

Czech Republic's qualifying journey for the European Championship concluded with a dominant 3-0 victory over Moldova in a Group E finale.

The Czech were in front following the opening stages through David Doudera after the visitors struggled to clear their lines.

A dismissal for the vising nation though a little to ten minutes in the second period had Vitor Babohlo given his marching orders on the back of a second bookable offence.

Czech Republic added to their advantage and made full use of the additional personnel on the field, as Tomas Chory pounced on a well-weighted supply before nestling the net.

West Ham United's Tomas Soucek made it three in the final minute, as the host finished their qualifying campaign on a high note.
