Sidibe, who plays as a defensive midfielder for the Ligue 2 side, was alerted by the woman to the incident, prompting the player and his two teammates, Pierre Lemonnier and Sohaib Nair, to chase the alleged culprit.
The incident is said to have taken place in Annecy, a city located in the southeastern region of France, where Guingamp were the visiting team.
After intercepting the suspect and recovering the stolen phone, Sidibe then handed the alleged thief over to police, who are said to have quickly arrived at the scene.
Phiri, meanwhile, has not featured prominently for the side this season, as he has played just six league games out of 18 so far.
In November 2024, the South African played his 100th match for Guingamp, but since then, he has only made four more appearances, as per Transfermarkt.
The 30-year-old midfielder is also set to be out of contract in June 2025.
