Amajita started the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1-0 loss to Egypt on Sunday evening.
Kaizer Chiefs’ Mfundo Vilakazi headlined the Amajita starting line-up along with Kutlwano Letlhaku, Langelihle Phili, Jody Ah Shene and Asekho Tiwani, who was named captain.
The young Pharaohs were pinned back ten minutes played and had a first-time shot from way out by Letlhaku come off the base of the post.
Amajita continued seeing the better of the chances ten minutes later, as a counter-attack led Jody Ah Shene to take aim from the right of the box, but he was unable to find the target.
As the match evened, the Pharaohs were forced to summon Mohammed Othman on from the bench after Mohamed Sherif went off injured five minutes to the interval.
Egypt were renewed in the second half following a quiet opening spell and targeted a fast start with numerous attacking forays.
Ah Shene nearly stunned the host ten minutes later when he made run on the blind-side and cut in to the near post to see his effort thumped onto the post.
The Pharaohs seized control around the midway point as Mohamed Abdalla charged out wide following a quick counter-attack and finished with ease into the far corner.
Amajita’s frustrations continued moments later after a pin-point pass over the top released Letlhaku, who went clear and struck the post once again.
The chances didn’t stop coming as the minutes ticked, with substitute Shakeel April persistently on the charge and unsettling the defence.
Amajita continued pushing for the equaliser, but the host nation closed shop and started the tournament on a positive note.
