EURO 2020 Quarter-Final wrap

England booked their spot in the semi-finals of the European Championship for the first time since 1996 after hammering Ukraine 4-0 on Saturday evening.

The Three Lions made two changes from the win over Germany, as Jadon Sancho got his first start in the tournament in place of the injured Bukayo Saka and Mason Mount was recalled at the expense of Kieran Trippier, as England reverted to a back-four.

Gareth Southgate's charges had a perfect start after Kane fired them ahead in the fourth minute with a toe-poke past shot-stopper Georgi Bushchan after a through ball by Raheem Sterling.

England were nearly punished in the 17th minute after Roman Yaremchuk pounced on a loose ball by Kyle Walker and charged his way through on goal but his side-footed shot at the near post was saved by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Three Lions were increasing their intensity and building up momentum, as Declan Rice had a chance to double their lead in the 33rd minute with a swerving rocket from outside the box that was punched away by Bushchan and England settled for a 1-0 lead going to the break.

Ukraine had a horrible start in the second stanza as Harry Maguire doubled England's lead a minute from the break with a powerful header after a cross from a free-kick from Luke Shaw.

Shevchenko's charges were shell-shocked and Kane took the game away from them four minutes later after making it 3-0 with a a header in between the legs of Bushchan after another brilliant cross by Shaw.

Kane came close to completing his hat-trick just after the hour-mark with a first-time volley that was parried away by Bushchan but substitute Jordan Henderson eventually made it 4-0 for the Three Lions with a free header from the resultant corner.

Southgate had the luxury to rest some players just after that, especially for Kalvin Phillips, who was one booking away from suspension and he was replaced by Jude Bellingham, as the Three Lions set up a semi-final tie with Denmark.

Denmark booked their spot in the semi-finals of the 2020 European Championship with a 2-1 victory over Czech Republic on Saturday evening.

Kasper Hjulmand's charges had a dream start after Thomas Delaney gave them the lead in the fifth minute with a free header inside the box from Jens Stryger Larsen's corner.

Tomas Holes had a chance to level matters after a through ball by Lukas Masopust towards the near post but his shot was saved by shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel.

However, Dolberg doubled the lead just before the half-time break with a composed volley inside the six-yard box from Joakim Maehle's superb cross after catching their opponents on the counter.

Jaroslav Silhavy responded by making a double tactical change at half-time, as forward Jakub Jankto replaced defender Tomas Holes and striker Michael Krmencik came on for midfielder Lukas Masopust.

The changes had a desired effect, as Schick eventually pulled a goal back for the Czechs four minutes from the break with a curling low volley inside the box after a cross by Vladimir Coufal.

Czech Republic were threatening to get the equaliser, putting Hjulmand's men under pressure but Yussuf Poulsen came close to making it 3-1 for the Danes in the last 12 minutes with a dipping strike from the edge of the box that was brilliantly parried away by Tomas Vaclik.

Maehle had a big chance to seal the deal for Denmark eight minutes before time after going clear on goal at the near post but his low strike was saved by Vaclik with his foot, in a one-on-one situation.

Anntonin Barak came close for the Czechs with a low volley in stoppage time that sailed wide as the Danes held on to book a spot in the semi-finals.
