Unfortunately for Pirates, if they win the Confederation Cup that will not earn them the promotion ticket to play in the Champions League next season.
According to the CAF regulations on the competition, winners of the Confederation Cup only acquire the ticket to defend their title the following season instead of moving up the ranks to play in the Champions League like what happens in Europe with winners of the Europa League securing the right to play in the Champions League the following season.
"The winner of CAF Confederation Cup must take part in the next edition of CAF Confederation Cup unless it is engaged in CAF Champions League of the same season," reads rule 13 in Section IV.
