Pirates facing Nigerian trip for final

Pirates have one hand in the final after winning 2-0 away at Al Ahli Tripoli this past weekend and look set to finish off the job at Orlando on Sunday.

The Libyans are poor travellers who have only won once in their last 17 travels in this competition giving The Bucs further reason to believe they have already secured their passage to the final.

In the meanwhile, the continental mother body has announced that Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria will stage the final on May 20.

The kick-off time is due to be confirmed soon.

"This is the first intercontinental major cup final to be hosted in Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Uyo is the capital of Akwa Ibom State – the home of Nigeria's Premier League side Akwa United," reads the statement from CAF.

This year's final will pit either Pirates/Al Ahli Tripoli against TP Mazembe/RS Berkane.

The Bucs have never won the Confederation Cup and need the trophy to avoid a barren campaign under Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids.

They lost to Etoile du Sahel in the 2015 final.

Last year the final was played in Cotonou, Benin with Raja Club Athletic overcoming JS Kabylie 2-1.
