RS Berkane Pirates' CAF opponents

Despite suffering defeat at Orlando, Pirates were 2-1 aggregate winners against Libyan club Al Ahli Tripoli on Sunday while Berkane dismantled TP Mazembe 4-1 later for a 4-2 aggregate victory.

The two teams will now meet at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria on Friday.

For the Buccaneers, this will be their second appearance in the final of this competition after ending up as runners-up in 2015 having won the Champions League two decades earlier.

Their opponents on Friday – RS Berkane – are a club from northeast Morocco and just as old having been formed in 1938.

Berkane have never lifted a domestic league and trail heavyweight duo Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca and also FAR Rabat who has been a rising force in recent years on the continent.

They were in the last eight of the Confederation Cup in 2018 before becoming runners-up and winners over the next two years.

Nicknamed the Orange Boys – Berkane are coached by the vastly experienced Congolese gaffer Florent Ibenge who took over in July last year and carries the experience edge over the Pirates caretaker coach Mandla Ncikazi.

RSB currently sit seventh in the Botola Pro league and entered this year's Confederation Cup by virtue of finishing fourth last season.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic forward Fiston Abdul Razak are on their books.

The Burundian played spent two years in South Africa during which he scored eight goals before leaving for Angola.

Razak is on loan from fellow Moroccan club Olympique Khouribga but now holds the record of having already played his football in 10 countries on the continent from Burundi, Rwanda, Congo, Kenya, South Africa, Angola, Egypt, Algeria, Tanzania, and Morocco.

He has battled for game time at Berkane with a single goal in 13 appearances playing just once in the Confederation Cup.

Key players in their squad are Hamza Hamiani Akbi, Issoufou Dayo, Hamza Regragui, Ismael Mokadem and Chadrack Muzungu Lukombe.
