South Africa will enjoy the rare privilege of having three clubs being on the verge of qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
Only once before have three clubs from South Africa been in the Confederation Cup play-off round pitting the 16 teams progressing from the second of this competition against the 16 that drop off from the CAF Champions League.

In 2017, Platinum Stars, BidVest Wits, and SuperSport United reached this stage with Stars and United proceeding to the group stages.
Wits had been relegated from the Champions League but still came stuck at this stage.
This year Marumo Gallants and Royal AM have progressed into the play-off round after disposing of Elgeco (Madagascar) and ZESCO United (Zambia) respectively in the second round.
Marumo coach Dan Malesela watched from the stands yet again due to qualification-related issues.
They have been joined by Cape Town City coming down from the Champions League.
The draw for the play-offs round takes place on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt.
According to CAF, the two-legged play-offs round will be played on November 2 and November 9.
The domestic league will have already taken a break by then for the FIFA World Cup due to start next month in Qatar.
Some of the teams already through to this round include holders RS Berkane, Pyramids, CS Sfaxien, TP Mazembe, Al Ahli Tripoli, and US Monastir.
Sundowns remain alive in the Champions League having progressed to the group stages with ease after getting past La Passe (Seychelles) on a 15-1 aggregate.
