BREAKING: Former Pirates star joins Cape Town City

Another day, another signing... that seems to be the story of Cape Town City, with the latest player to join the club being Fortune Makaringe.

Soon after Makaringe left Orlando Pirates earlier this month, reports started circulating that he would be linking up with the Citizens, but the club have kept quiet throughout, up to this point.

It is another major acquisition from the club whose offices are a stone's throw away from the infamous Long Street in Cape Town, after they signed Haashim Domingo, a returnee to the local scene following an unpleasant experience with Raja Casablanca in Morocco.

The 31-year-old Makaringe endured a lack of game-time at the Buccaneers over the past two seasons, notably making only seven starts in the league in the just-ended campaign.

He is often credited for his discipline, professionalism and work ethic, having never sulked about his situation at the Soweto giants but rather knuckling down and trying to win back the starting berth.

City will hope there is still something in the legs of the player who also turned out for Maritzburg United earlier in his career, although it is not yet known for how long he has signed on the dotted line.

The club announced Makaringe with a video shared on their official X account, captioned: "The wait is over. Fortune Makaringe is a blue!"

Other additions to their squad include Sibusiso Ziba from JDR Stars, 22-year-old Namibian Prins Tjiueza and Chippa United's Kayden Francis.
