Cristiano Ronaldo opens R1.7-billion CR7 hotel in Marrakech Morocco

Cristiano Ronaldo's billion-dollar empire has branched out to Africa after opening a hotel in Marrakech, Morocco.

Ronaldo, 36, was declared a billionaire by Forbes in 2020 after reaching the incredible landmark in just football career earnings. This ranked him as the first footballer to reach the billion-dollar landmark.

But his glamorous empire off the field which ranges from luxury real estate investments to underwear lines has taken his legacy into a different stratosphere in comparison to his footballing rivals.

In 2018, in a joint statement with the Pestana Group - a Portuguese tourism and leisure conglomerate - the plans of investing in Africa was made known with a targeted opening date of December 2020.

However, the covid-19 crisis postponed plans during a period where he showcased the development of his reported 168-room masterpiece via his social media accounts.

According to the statement released by Pestana, 430 million dirhams (R1.7bn) was invested in the hotel situated in Minara Gardens.

Luxury lifestyle for emerging market

While many would baulk at the incredible investment made by Portugal superstar, the emerging market in the Minara area wouldn't scoff at the prices needed to enjoy the new establishment.

Barnes International Realty reports that apartments in the same area are valued at an average of 30000 dirhams (R122 000) per spare meter.

The CR7 Pestana holds a surface area of 95,000 square meters are said to be designed for "Generation Y" clientele in search of a quiet paradise for work and leisure.

R3500 will be enough to secure one evening to gain access to the two restaurants, business centre, spa and your luxury room which was designed by Eclettico Director and architect Igor Rebosio.
