Chiefs star: I hoped for more, but...

Wingback Dillan Solomons has made an honest assessment of his time at Kaizer Chiefs, addressing reasons behind dips in form as well as inconsistency.

Solomon was signed at the start of the 2022/23 season as part of a three-man package that included George Matlou and Kamohelo Mahlatsi.

The latter has since left after struggling for game-time, while Matlou and Solomons persist, though have faced similar challenges.

Solomons has made 12 appearances this season, with seven of them coming from Amakhosi's last 10 matches. He suffered a shoulder injury towards the end of last term, subsequently missing out on the start of the current campaign.

The 26-year-old also suffered a hamstring injury shortly after his recovery.

Speaking at Chiefs' media open day on Thursday, the former Swallows FC speedster conceded to have endured a frustrating time.

"It's been a difficult one. Obviously this season I have been hit by a lot of injuries, coming back just the start of the season with the shoulder and now dealing with a hamstring problem," admitted Solomons.

"But for now, I feel healthy, I feel good. Good preparation, going every week. Not just going to training and going home, there are a lot of preparations that are going into keeping my body in good shape.

"Obviously, I want to turn things around for myself, put in the work every day. When Im healthy, I feel good, I can help the team.

"Obviously, I would have hoped for a lot more, but that's the way it was put out for me, and I can only do with what I'm dealt with," he maintained.

For all his struggles, the wingback has provided valuable cover in an Amakhosi defence riddled by injuries. Inacio Miguel, Given Msimango, Rushwin Dortley, and Reeve Frosler have all been sidelined with injuries in recent games.
