Exit risk for Downs defender?

Mamelodi Sundowns' intentions on the transfer market have left matters relating to the structure of their foreign quota in the new season still not finalised.

Sundowns have Brazilian pair Arthur de Oliviera Sales and Lucas Ribeiro Costa, along with Marcelo Allende (Chile), Matias Esquivel (Argentina), Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil plus Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nasir on their books as foreigners.

According to the PSL rules, only five players can be registered with non-South African documentation per club.

The four South Americans are likely to stay, leaving Boutouil and Nasir on the edge.

It could get even more complicated with whispers that Sundowns will add yet another new foreign signing before the start of the new season.

There have been suggestions of Boutouil leaving two years after arriving on a R6,8 million transfer.

The Moroccan has played 31 games in two years, battling with injury-related issues along the way.

Though Boutouil has been strongly linked with a move back to Morocco, his representative has insisted that he will stay and honour his contract running up to June 2027.

The plan has been for AB to exhaust his contract and then leave for the Gulf Region market.

Nasir is likely to be loaned out.
