After an exclusive report that Mamelodi Sundowns were in the process of appointing a new head coach from abroad, KickOff has the latest on the controversial position at the club.
Following the departure of Rulani Mokwena in July, Sundowns were not clear on who would be his successor in the same title, after merely stating: "Coach Manqoba and the Technical Team will continue to lead and take control of the training and preparation of the players for the upcoming season".
In their pre-season tour of Austria, after re-appointing Steve Komphela as the senior coach, the club also announced the addition of Romain Folz to the technical team.

This website previously reported that Sundowns were in the process of bringing on board a foreigner, with a coach of Spanish background believed to have been sounded out and earmarked to become the new head coach.
However, the latest is that the multiple league champions, while simultaneously negotiating a new contract with Mngqithi, have seemingly put on hold plans to bring in a foreign coach and have relented to give the 53-year-old the position for now.
According to a reliable source close to the Tshwane giants' dealings, Masandawana felt they did not want to destabilize the team and mood ahead of the new season and have settled on Mngqithi taking official control of the team ahead of the MTN8 quarter-final against Polokwane City on Sunday.
The head position is currently a sensitive topic in the Chloorkop corridors, as the former Golden Arrows coach also did not want to commit on what his official title is or would be once he signs a new contract.

"I don't know [what is my title], the question is right, but you're asking the wrong person," he told journalists at the MTN8 launch.
So what should journalists write?
"I don't know, but I can advise you to say 'Coach Manqoba'."
Mngqithi has finally signed a new contract, according to his agent Mike Makaab on Gagasi FM, with the club expected to make an announcement in due course.
