Kaizer Chiefs' Nkosingiphile Ngcobo suffers serious setback ahead of FIFA Under-20 World Cup

Ngcobo's results from his tests he underwent on Monday to determine the extent of his Achilles injury picked up last Friday have come as a massive disappointment for both Chiefs and Amajita.

The 19-year-old is set to be on the sidelines for the next six months as he recovers from a ruptured tendon, the club have on Wednesday confirmed.

Ngcobo only recently made his Amakhosi first team debut when he came on as a second half sub against Maritzburg United at the start of the month.

He quickly rose to prominence with his displays at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger, where he helped the junior national side qualify for the World Cup in Poland.

However, the former Chiefs reserve team captain will now be ruled out of contention for Thabo Senong's side, who are set to depart for Poland in May.

Ngcobo could miss out on an opportunity to earn his first winners' medal, should the Glamour Boys go all the way in the Nedbank Cup this season.
