A big 'step' forward for Pirates defender

An Orlando Pirates defender has made a significant step towards his recovery since suffering a serious injury in February.

The Buccaneers have endured a testing season as far as injuries go, with several of their key players spending time on the sidelines due to injury at various points.

Olisah Ndah, Tapelo Xoki, Zakhele Lepasa and Miguel Timm are some of the big-profile casualties within the side that have seen limited game time this season due to one or more injuries.

The defensive line has taken the most beating with Ndah, Xoki and Thabiso Sesane all missing huge chunks of the season due to injury.

The emergence of Mbekezeli Mbokazi has covered the frailty in the squad, as has that of Mohau Nkota, as far as attacking options go.

However, there is seemingly a light at the end of the tunnel for Pirates. Thabiso, who has been strutting a moon boot since his injury, has been spotted without the boot in recent photographs.

In a recent Instagram post, Sesane is seen mobile and shooting basketball hoops without his moon boot. His movement remains visibly limited, but it is a major sign of the progress the 24-year-old has made towards his recovery.

It is unlikely that Sesane will feature for Pirates this season. The centre-back may be ready in time for the Buccaneers' pre-season camp ahead of the new season.
