In this edition of Story Behind My Nickname, South African football legend Neil Tovey reveals the origin behind his unique nickname "Mokoko".
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana captain reveal what he likes most about his nickname is its uniqueness.
"I had a number of nicknames, because of obviously the different teams I played for," Tovey tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"But obviously Mokoko was given to me by the Chiefs supporters. The role I played in the midfield was like I was a boss chicken.

"You know taking control and organising the midfield, you know.
"You always feel honoured when you are given a nickname. If you are given a nickname then you're obviously doing well for the fans, because fans don't just hand out nicknames.
"They cherish the nicknames that they give you, so if they give you a nickname then obviously you are doing well for the club. So yes you always feel honoured when they give you the nicknames.
"I like that it's unique, fans are special. Wherever I go they still call me by that nickname yes."
Tovey also explained why the current generation of players does not have strong nicknames.
"Yes, I think also the fans are no longer turning up to the grounds as they used to you know. So the talk and the banter at the stadium is not the same as it used to be.
"It could also be that the players are no longer continuously consistently producing."
