Terrence Mashego reveals how he will spend Nedbank Cup prize money

TS Galaxy defender Terrence Mashego has revealed a wise way that he will use his prize money from their Nedbank Cup triumph.

Mashego was named the Nedbank Cup's Most Promising Player during the PSL Awards ceremony in Durban after he helped Galaxy beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium last Saturday.

He is set to receive a share of the prize money won by the Mpumalanga side and reveals he will pay his outstanding students' fees at the Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria.

Mashego has confirmed that he is heading back to school next year after dropping out at TUT due to financial problems last year.

"I was studying at TUT and I had outstanding fees. I had to drop out and go back to the Eastern Cape because of the outstanding fees," Mashego tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I will use the money to pay the outstanding fees so that I can go and continue with my education. I want to complete my studies so that I can have something to fall back on after playing football."

Mashego dropped out in his second year while doing a Diploma in Sports Science.

Director of Sport and Recreation at the university Shadrack Nthangane has since promised Mashego and other former TUT players now playing in the PSL – including Themba Ndlovu, Skhumbuzo Ncube and Vusi Sibiya – that his department is doing everything possible to make sure study facilities and resources are available for the players to finish their studies at the institution.
