Widely regarded as the greatest South African women's footballer of all time, Portia Modise remains under-appreciated in many respects. Here's a look at what the retired superstar has been up to since moving away from the limelight.
The story
Banyana Banyana are a powerhouse in African football and having enjoyed a lot of success over the last decade, it is important to acknowledge those who paved the way.
Many in Mzansi would agree that the former attacker is easily the most-known women's player in the country and her legacy remains intact having scored 102 goals for the national team, a record that makes her the all-time top goalscorer for the national team.

Keeping active
The ex-forward spends a lot of time in the gym and we reckon she still has some legs left in her given her impressive talent. On social media, she can be seen being active, whether indoors or outdoors.
This is a good sign as she also participates in a lot of charity events which sometimes require her to kit up and have a kickabout. The Soweto-born star is also an active participant in various initiatives aimed at uplifting youth and promoting women's soccer in local townships.
Many would certainly agree that she deserves a more prominent role in the sport given that she represented her country for 15 years as she started out as a 16-year-old in 2000, per ESPN Africa.
Did you know?
In 2014, Modise won the SA Sports Star of the Year, beating the likes of Ernst Van Dyk, Chad Le Clos, Khotso Mokoena, AB De Villiers and Duane Vermeulen.
Your thoughts, please?
Do you think Modise's 102 goals for Banyana will ever be surpassed in the next 10 years or so?
